The Power of Being Conscious

Are People In A Daze Lately?

Are people moving around in a daze lately or
is it just me? I think in part it's a sign of the times.
We're on overload and trying to take in so much - the economic crisis, wars, a large magnitude of natural disasters, consistently bad news on the TV. I mean, where's the good stuff? No wonder we're in a coma-like state. It's a lot easier than "dealing" with life. You see this zombie-like mode of existence at every turn. People drive with little consideration of others on the road. Tempers are short in the grocery store line. People walk right by others they know without noticing the other person is standing there. A lot of anxiety in the air. I recently heard a pharmacist say on the internet radio show, Coast to Coast (which deals with a number of issues, many dealing with the paranormal), that the number of prescriptions being filled for anxiety is sky-rocketing. Some people are becoming so accustomed to being in a depressed state that it's becoming their new "normal".

OK, so how can we make a change? Human beings are energy magnets. That energy can be positive and uplifting or it can be unsettling and bring with it a sense of pessimism. And if we are not "conscious", we can take on energy that does not serve our highest good. I believe that the higher our vibrational level, the more mindful we are of how we are acting and what is going on around us. Oh, yes, and we're happier and more content. When we are in a lower vibration we are less cognizant, more connected to ego and not as focused as we would ideally be.

How To Live A Conscious Existence

OK, so now that we are "awake" enough to recognize that we or others around us are sleepwalking, what can we do to return to the world of the conscious? Let's raise the vibration.

1) Remember The Power Of Your Words.
The words we speak can be self-fulfilling forecasts. Strive to speak words/articulate actions that describe your life the way you want it to be. What you put out, you receive in return. Empower the best in you by recognizing your worthiness to be the best that you can be. This starts with the power of the words you speak.

2) Don't Absorb The Chaos - Acknowledge And Move Through It
There is no denying that chaos surrounds us. It's nearly everywhere, but we don't have to personally own it. At times we find ourselves in the company of others who are unhappy. Perhaps a coworker, family member or even your partner is not in a good place. We're like a sponge and can take in the energy of others - if we don't consciously decide not to do that. Surround yourself with white light, remind yourself that we each have our own path to walk and send light and love to whoever is having the challenge. Nothing is gained from you owning the chaos.

3) Appreciate
Taking the time to be appreciative does wonders for your energy level and most definitely raises your vibration. It raises your consciousness and I believe (by way of experience) can bring additional gifts to your life for which you can be grateful. Being appreciative can bring a shift in your circumstances.

4) Set Your Own Intention
Nothing can be more draining than living your life by someone else's definition of how you should live it. Working to please the people who are a part of your universe can be draining. Living your authentic life, following your calling, is what you are here to do. Even if you have to do so with tiny steps, determine to do it. Live the life that is true to who you are.

5) Take It A Day At A Time
Take life a day at a time. You don't have to get everything done at once and you don't need to solve every problem immediately. One day at a time, one hour at a time, one minute at a time.

6) Say "Yes"
When a challenge comes my way I have come to embrace it. That's not to say I'm jumping up and down for joy when some unexpected inconvenience appears, but I do think that whatever comes to me, I draw it to myself. I say "yes" to accepting that and then working through it. What can I learn from it? Say "yes" and keep moving forward.

7) Breathe
Breathe? Seems so obvious - we have to breathe in order to survive. But our breaths are often short and shallow. Deep, heart-felt breaths restore our energy and connect us to the here and now. It grounds us and reminds us that we are alive. It brings being conscious to the forefront. So Breathe. Breathe deep and breathe often.
