Intention
Determination to act in a certain way; what
one intends to do or bring about
The Power of Intention
Well, my friends, it's
that time again. 2010 is now behind us and the
New Year is in full swing. What often comes with
the New Year is an energetic and
well-intentioned list of all of the things we
plan to accomplish. Good intentions abound and
often what we hope to achieve seems so doable as
we dance into the New Year. However, come March
or April many of those important things on our
"to do" list have fallen by the way side, if we
can even remember what we promised ourselves
(and sometimes others) we would do.
With that in mind, I intend to be more sensible,
focused and realistic about what I "intend" to
do in 20ll. I find "gifting" myself with quality
time, to think about what I'd like to experience
a few months down the line, helps me create a
mindset to actually put my vision into action.
My challenge in the past has been that I've been
over zealous. After all, there are only 24 hours
in the day. Try as I may to stretch them, the
powers that be aren't having any of that. Deduct
the six hours of sleep a night (I know some need
more), plus working the eight, nine or sometimes
(sigh) ten hours a day many of you work, in
addition to time to take care of your family and
that leaves precious time for other things you
would like to accomplish. When working on my
book project, I frequently worked nine or ten
hours at my day job, followed by going home and
working another five or six hours as I wrote the
book, found a publisher and marketed myself and
the book for events. To say I was tired is an
understatement.
When you are passionate about something and
believe in it with all of your heart, you're
willing to make sacrifices. I did learn from the
experience and have taken those lessons to
heart. I gladly share with you my recipe for
succeeding when you move forward with the
intention of success.
Celebrate the
Possibilities
1. Whatever you are doing,
do it for yourself vs. following another
person's vision
2. Make a short list - it is better to do a few
things well vs. a number of things half
heartedly
3. Build in down time
4. Revisit your timeline and adjust accordingly
5. Don't be afraid to change course
6. Don't be hard on yourself
7. Enlist a support team
8. Work with the power of visualization and
manifestation
9. Celebrate the successes
Know that with the New Year comes new
opportunities. If something is not working in
your life, take steps to address it. Removing
whatever is not working in your life opens the
door for new and nurturing experiences. One
thought, one step, one action at a time.
