This month we focus on the fourth of
The 10 Be's of Positivity:
Be Loving
To be loving is a great gift that all
of us should try. A feeling so magnificent it cannot be
denied. So love others as you love yourself and your
energy will shine - for peace and hope and kindness are
indeed what you will find.
Be Loving
This month we focus on the fourth of
The 10 Be's of Positivity, Be Loving.
Who would not appreciate being loving, lovable and
loved? The ability to be lovable and loved by those
close to us offers many rewards. Woman or man, young or
old, to be loved is something most of us long for, and
why wouldn't we? It feels good to care for others and it
also feels good to have that same sentiment returned.
And loving is an expansive experience. We can feel love
for our partners or children or parents, our friends and
for our pets. You can demonstrate a loving attitude
towards complete strangers. A kind gesture towards
someone you many never see again may have an impact you
will never know about. Being loving is a tremendous way
to live your life. People who are loving are like a
breath of fresh air. Don't you appreciate being around
someone who has that aura of light and love about them?
It's inspiring.
But lest you spend all of your time loving others, let
me remind you of something very important. "Loving"
absolutely starts first, with you. Self-love can be a
challenging concept for some to embrace. This is for a
number of reasons. If you did not grow up in a
nurturing, supportive environment, with family
supporting you and telling you that you were loved, you
may not believe you are worthy of it. If you have been
in a personal relationship and your partner has not
honored how special you are or if your kids are
demanding and fail to show appreciation for all that you
do, you may not feel worthy of love. But you are and
little by little you can learn to believe this about
yourself.
Here is an exercise I have my clients incorporate into
their daily lives. It requires 60 seconds of your time,
in front of the mirror behind a closed door in your
bathroom. Once a day, without fail, stand in front of
the mirror, look yourself in the eye and say, "I love
you." If this is challenging, know that with time it
will become easier and you will come to believe it. If
you already love yourself, it's still a good exercise.
This act of acknowledging self-love will go a long way
towards reminding you about something very important:
you are a precious, shiny jewel who is deserving and
worthy of "love."

The Power of Positivity is to Give Back
A few years ago, on a trip to Central
Africa, I became acquainted with a hard-working
organization called the Martin Luther King Jr.
Foundation, located in Limbe, Cameroon. The Foundation
works to promote peace, non-violence, social justice and
sustainable development in Cameroon. To assist with
their educational efforts, I started The Words Across
The World Book Project. I collect books and send them to
the Foundation, who makes the books available to all in
the community, as well as students located at a
University near the Foundation's office. To learn more
about this organization, visit www.lukmefcameroon.org. I
sit on the International Board of Directors for this
organization and a portion of book sales goes to support
this worthy cause.
YOU
would not be here if you were not meant to be loved.
Do not let your past experiences dictate your here and
